But then so do the experts in the field, apparently; For a general reference, Wikipedia classifies (purely) functional programming languages as declarative. As a specific example, a Paul Bone, who has a PhD for work on pure declarative languages, also follows this definition. I’d be curious to know for what reason you take offence at the definition. | |

So is Linq, Python’s list comprehension, XAML, XSLT, SQL and Prolog. All of which are bona fide programming languages and/or concepts. While most programming languages are imperative, this is not the defining feature. At all. | |
