So, I'm looking at elastic search api, and the way you interact with it is, you excecute the ES binaries and make http requests on localhost (to insert, delete, whatever).

curl -XPOST https://localhost/<index> some_arg

My question is: say I have a REST api on heroku. I want this api to use elastic search. Can I just dump the ES binaries as part of the server, and run it like I would if I were running it on my local machine?

(The elastic search database is going to be pre-populated with fixed data, so there won't be any insert/delete. The reason I'm using it is to leverage it's search engine like functions on my pre-existing data.)
