I'm wondering how banks that use cards with chips for their transfers, actually recieve the information (like if the banks backend was written in python, how would the data be recieved, in a json format or something of the sorts? (not looking for a code example just a written explanation)).

I've read online that companies like square do a lot of the heavy lifting and all they do is request confirmation from the bank, but i'm wondering how you would go about sending the confirmation email back.

I can write the code required for withdrawing and adding money to accounts but just am having a difficult time understanding how all of this would work... sorry for such a broad question.

Any knowledge or links to articles with more information would be greatly appreciated!
