Not to long ago I was here on stack overflow and saw this great diagram of programming languages performance comparison, and now I can't find it...
Does anyone have a similar comparison? The two I'm most interested in are PHP vs Python.

  • Have you tried the Google image search? for PHP vs Python right of the bat i can find a lot of great diagrams on performance on various web languages. – Aditya P Apr 23 '11 at 16:01
  • I've seen most of them. and the one I'm looking for isn't for only these two, it's for a lot of languages, it has a couple dozen different languages. – Ziv Apr 23 '11 at 16:53

I can't help you with a link to a performance comparison, but I can reassure you that "language's speed of executing code" is likely to be far, far down the list when it comes to factors that determine your web application's performance. Look at network traffic and database traffic before you worry about which language compiles a tighter for loop. – Carson63000 Apr 23 '11 at 22:03

This is not for choosing a language :D It's to settle an argument. – Ziv Apr 23 '11 at 23:34

@Rein Henrichs no, I tried searching for a more meaningful comparison, like what vartec answered with. When you simply google for this kind of thing, like most of you said most of the comparisons are either stupidly done or just meaningless. That's why I asked a forum of coders for their suggestion on the matter. – Ziv Apr 24 '11 at 16:12

Try The Computer Language Shootout

PHP vs Python3:

  • THIS is exactly what I was looking for, even better. It compares several languages on the basis of performance only on a single platform. Thank you. – Ziv Apr 27 '11 at 14:09
  • The original shootout has been shuttered, similar content is available at the Benchmarks Game. – Murph Jun 15 '16 at 15:21
