'Best practices' is a bit of a fuzzy term. Recently I've gone through another wave of self-improvement in my coding practices (mostly brought on by reading Clean Code) and I find that some of the things I disagree with. I'd hate to take things at face value and not think about them critically, but I wonder whether or not my thinking is wrong.

So I wonder, what are some best practies or practices that you've seen that many of your peers seem to agree with that you disagree with?

For the time being, I'm speaking strictly of coding practices.
