I am a baby boomer trying to make the transition from mechanical engineering to software development. I enjoy writing code as solutions to business problems and I really enjoy makin UIs to present data in an exciting way. WE spend 1/3 of our life at work so our applications should be enjoyable to use. I like developing themes for forms that engage what a company is about, such as wood looks for a woodworking company,or industrial heavy metal for a metal machining company etc.
As a mechanical designer I am used to designing my own tools to cut the repetition of a job and I intend to develop a software toolbox with the same thought in mind. I will try to develop modular parts that can be configured as needed and bolted in place like customizing a muscle car. Does this company need a two barrel or four barrel carb, etc.
I am easygoing and I believe in asking for help when I need it and giving anyone help when they ask and no matter how far I rise, I remember where I came from.
