I have worked in startups for the vast majority of my career. I've spent some time in recent years working for a few larger companies. I've worked remotely for 11 of the last 12 years and have developed solid work habits to make the time I work more productive and focused.
I am currently working in Elixir, with some time spent in Ruby on Rails. I've only been using Elixir for a year and a half, but I've been working with Ruby on Rails since 2011.
I am a firm believer in the KISS principle, developing for what you currently know and understand instead of spending a lot of time designing for a murky, unknown future. This is not to say that I don't believe in all code being written in such a way as to avoid the things you DO know about the future.
