Well I was having lessions at a math teacher several months ago and I can say that if you have some mathematical knowledge you can benefit from it. For example: I was writing some javascript code and I had to simulate acceleration and deceleration. I heard about the fibonacci sequence from my math teacher so I was able to simulate this behavior easily with it. If I haven't had lessions however I don't know what I would have done. I think the point is obvious from this example.
